In the case of suspension from classes, the student must not come to the university until the period for suspension from classes has elapsed. Type of Infectious Diseases and Suspension Period Name of Disease Suspension Period Class 1 Ebola hemorrhagic fever, plague, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, Marburg virus disease, smallpox, Lassa fever, South American hemorrhagic fever, Polio, diphtheria, SARS (Sever Acute Respiratory Syndrome), avian influenza, new strains of influenza Until cured Class 2 Influenza (excluding specific avian influenza and novel influenza) Until 5 days have passed since the onset of illness and 2 days after decline of fever. COVID-19 Until 5 days have passed since the onset of illness and 1 day after symptoms abate. Pertussis Until the distinctive cough disappears, or 5 days of appropriate antibiotic treatment is completed. Measles Until 3 days have passed after decline of fever. Mumps Until 5 days have passed since the onset of swelling of the parotid gland, submaxillary gland or sublingual gland and overall condition has improved. Rubella (three-day measles) Until the rash disappears. Varicella (Chicken pox) Until all the blisters have scabbed over. Pharyngoconjunctival fever (pool fever) Until 2 days have passed after major symptoms disappear. Tuberculosis Until a physician or the school physician determines the condition to be non-infectious. Meningococcal meningitis Class 3 Cholera Until a physician or the school physician determines the condition to be non-infectious. Shigellosis (bacillary dysentery) EHEC (Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli) Typhoid fever Salmonella Epidemic keratoconjunctivitis Acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis Other infectious diseases include: Group A beta-hemolytic streptococcal infection, hand-foot-and-mouth disease, infectious erythema, herpangina, mycoplasmosis, and epidemic vomiting and diarrhea (vomiting and diarrhea caused by norovirus, etc.) Special Measures in the Case of Suspension from Classes Cases where the student was not able to attend classes due to suspension from classes do not constitute as official absences, and the student will be able to receive academic guidance and support concerning classes if the student takes the following procedures as necessary. If the student fails to take the procedures during the period when classes are held, it will be difficult to receive academic guidance and support, therefore, the student should complete the procedures by the end of July for Spring Semester and by the end of January for Fall Semester. (3)When a student has infected school infectious diseases other than the above    *Please process after obtaining Certificate of Recovery from Infectious Disease filled in by the medical institution. <How to proceed> ① Please complete the procedures through the Medical Service Center website if you have contracted school infectious disease. ② The Medical Service Center will issue the "Confirmation of Suspension Period due to Infectious Disease" and send it to the student’s Ritsumeikan e-mail address. ③ Please submit the issued application form promptly through manaba+R > Applicable Course > “Tutoring Collections". However, if you receive any individual instructions given by the instructor, please follow it. If it is difficult to do that (e.g., the student does not have the contact information of the instructor, etc.), please consult with the Manabi Station of affiliated campus (or the Administrative Office of Inter-Faculty Graduate Schools for Suzaku campus). Special Measures in the Case of Suspension from Final Examination In cases where the student was not able to take final examinations due to suspension from classes, the student will be able to apply for make-up examinations in accordance with the "Ritsumeikan University Final Examination Regulations. Therefore, infected students are obligated to report their infected status, as specified in the “School Health and Safety Act” to the administrative office of their college or graduate school at the point their diagnosis is confirmed. The infectious diseases requiring disclosure listed below have been determined pursuant to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's rules concerning "Notifiable Infectious Diseases." (2)In the interest of preserving the health and safety of students, faculty and other staff, and in order to prevent the spread of disease, it may be determined that an infected student shall take official absence. In such a case, the student will be informed of the subsequent procedures.
